I put the light box to work again and made another of 'Victoria's' triangle blocks. ( see previous post)
I want to try to make more of them.

How to make a light box when you need one in a hurry.
I decided I needed to try the triangle block that Victoria over at http://www.15minutesplay.com/ posted. It took a little more than 15 minutes but it was fun to try a challenge. My points are way off but for a first time I think it looks ok.
To make the paper patterns to sew the fabric on , I traced the pdf that I printed. My printer stopped working for some reason and I only had one copy so I had to trace them. I do not have a light box but I have a sewing machine table that has a clear inset for my machine. Here is how I 'made' my light box. It worked great. I guess out of necessity comes invention..

Papae and the boys!
I was looking through some photos I have on the computer and decided to share some with ya'll. My DH and the babies have a very close bond. Here are a few photos of them.
this is Ephraim's 6 week old photo....this was his birth announcement photo He was born on 11/11/11 .
Here is a photo of Reed with his Papae. sweet huh?
Here is a photo of Alden with his Papae. another sweet pic
They love to sit on their Papae! we love these babies so much!

This was taken at 10 weeks old. He is smiling and gooing since he was about 5 weeks old.
Here is a photo of Alden and Ephraim together. Alden is 32 months old and Ephraim is 9 weeks old in this photo. those BumBo chairs are great.... when the babies can hold up their heads they can sit in these little chairs for short periods of time. Ephraim loves it.
This is a photo of Alden and Reed. They are 5 months apart in age. I took this a couple of months ago when they came to spend the night together with us. I sewed some Thomas the Train fabric onto their t-shirts. They love to wear their little boxers to sleep! Better than any PJ you can buy!

A picture does not have to be a perfect shot to be special
I took this while our older grandsons were watching their grandfather cut grass in the front yard. Not a perfect picture but so cute!
I took this one last winter. My husband and our younger grandson were walking together to go look at the cows in the back pasture. Notice his gloves....they did not fit at all but he insisted on having them on! too funny...
I love it! A very special moment together.

Finally organized!
Thanks to my new QBFF, Elisa, I now have an organized sewing studio. I hope she realizes how much I appreciate all the hard work she did for me. Now when we get together we can sew in a pleasant place. I might even win a prize for getting my fabric so organized!
Here are some photos you have to see!
Here is the fabric wall.... all organized and folded nicely....

Design wall and threads... working on a pin wheel quilt!
Quilting frame .....it's time to quilt my Dresden plate quilt....

Busy in my sewing studio!
January has been pretty busy for me.
I completed this baby quilt....I quilted it on my sewing machine using a walking foot.
Cute and soft and perfect for a sweet baby.......
I pinned my Dresden plate quilt top to the quilt rack. I am going to try to get it quilted this week. Still trying to decide how I will quilt this one. I want to use it as a wall hanging for my kitchen.
My new QBFF has OCD (that's a great thing) and she spent two Sundays organizing my sewing studio and all of my fabric. I have to finish folding some of the pieces but it looks so wonderful I just had to share a photo.

Quilted in a simple grid. Very quick and easy to do!

I started another baby quilt. I am trying a pinwheel pattern.
It is still a work in progress and I hope to get this top finished by next week.
I also spent some time working on my block for an online quilting bee that I am participating in. I have to finish doing the tutorial for it.
I have it pinned to my 'leggo' quilt blocks just for fun!
"Whew!" It has been a busy January for me.

An interesting block for an online quilting bee
I am participating in an online quilting bee. You can check it out on the 15 Minute Play blog here http://www.15minutesplay.com/
This block was a challenge but fun to make.
I think lots of these blocks together will make an awesome quilt!
Here is a picture of the one I made. I will be mailing it to Kathy this week.
I hope she likes it!

Is it really January?
I can hardly believe it is January 23rd. We have not had much of a winter this year.
DH and I had a nice afternoon under the oak tree in the back yard. We had a nice breeze. The temperature was around 77 today.
This is one of my favorite places to spend time.

My first Mug Rug
I am participating in a stocking exchange. We will make an item each month and in December we will mail the items and the stocking we make to the person you are paired with. It should be lots of fun. You can read about it here.
http://www.wastelandwallowing.blogspot.com/
This month we have to get a mug and and make a 'Mug Rug' for it. I have never made a 'Mug Rug' . I had fun designing and making this one to go with a cute black and white mug I found.
Here is a photo of what I made. It is 7 1/2 " by 9". Some of the seams are not perfect but I like it anyway. I hope my partner in the swap will like it.

2012 - the first completed quilt! the black and white flying geese quilt!!!!
I am working on getting my quilt tops completed. I am going to try to do at least one per week.
Here is the black and white flying geese quilt. It is 39" square. I washed to to make sure the colors would not bleed. It looks great and now it is soft and crinkly!
I used the walking foot on my sewing machine!
The colors did not bleed into the white! I am so glad it came out so nice.
I decided to bind it with the red to match the one red goose! I have listed it in my Etsy store. Click on the button on the right side of my blog.
Here are a couple of photos.....

Two more quilt tops
I have been sitting at my machine again. I can not seem to stop putting blocks together. I really need to try to quilt the ones that I have in my "quilt tops to quilt" bin.
I watch too many youtube quilting tutorials and can not resist trying them.
Here is one I did earlier this week......

I made this one last week...I tried something on my own and I like the way it came out. Neat huh?
I want to get these two quilted very soon.
I hope this will be the year that I can finish all the projects I have started!
Have a wonderful 2012!!!!!!!

Happy New Year!
I pray that 2012 will be a good one for us all.
As we leave 2011, I reflect on things that happened and realize we had a pretty quiet year. God is so good to us. Our grand babies are healthy. My husbands parents are still with us ( they have health problems but doing ok). I am getting some relief from the meds I am taking for my RA.
The best event was the birth of our new grandson on 11/11/11.
I do not usually write down my resolutions for the new year but here goes
- I will try to keep better track of receipts when I shop
- I will try to limit the amount of times I shop for fabric
this next one will be the hardest one to do.....
-I will add a new post to my blog at least once a week!

Anniversary Roses!
40 beautiful roses, one for each year we have been married. 2 blue carnations , one for each of our precious sons!
Francis gives me one rose for each year. He adds one each year! He started this tradition on our first anniversary and the arrangement
gets bigger each year. Such a wonderful, thoughtful man. It is so great to be married to my best friend!
