what can you make with curtain fabric samples?

A couple of years ago I bought a box of curtain fabric samples at a thrift store.   lots of coordinating colors and pretty patterns.
I recently bought a pattern to make a sling bag so I decided to give it a try!
Here is the pattern I bought.

I used a couple of the samples to make my sling bag.   Here is what I ended up with.

I think it came out really nice.  It took several hours to make.  The next one I make will be quicker now that I understand the pattern directions. Ir was not difficult to make.   I might try to make a couple for gifts.
What do you think of it?

  1. That's lovely beebee, it would be quite hard wearing too I guess, being curtain fabric? I can see some lovely gifts coming up..

  2. Thanks Lizzie
I plan to use it to on our cruise next week. It's just the right size for carrying sun screen, flip flops, sun glasses, etc....
I'm looking for a bag pattern that is a little smaller than this one.

  3. Beebee, if you really like the pattern, you can always take it to a copier (at the library, Kinko's etc) and have them reduce it for you. it looks like fun, and in case you need to make a few extras for practice, I'll get in line behind Lizzie.

  4. Good idea I think I will try to get it reduced next time I go to the library!
It is a pretty easy pattern to follow.
    They would make nice gifts!
